i still remember BBLight as the first 3rd party application every installed on my first blackberry. Since blackberry 7230 and 7290 units don't have an automatic background light, this application is very usefull, you can set it to turn on the backgroundlight of your blackberry automatically whenever you press a key or scroll the wheel.
